The housing market remains open
The new year has started and once again despite our best hopes we all find ourselves back in another lockdown situation.
There is light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel, but we are all too aware there will still be difficult times ahead before we get there.
The country has been moved into Coronavirus Alert Level 5, where people must stay at home, except for limited exceptions.
We do not know how long this situation will last but we are aware of one key difference to the first national lockdown: the housing and construction markets will remain open.
Here at Howie Architects we will also be continuing to try to operate as normally as possible and to be there for our clients who are at all stages of their projects.
If you are looking for a new property or are currently in the process of purchasing one, then you should be able to continue as planned.
We would, however, recommend you read the guidance issued by the UK government and undertake house viewings and your move as safely as possible.
It is worth noting, for example, that people outside your household or support bubble should not help you with your move, unless absolutely necessary.
It is also important to check the government advice on social distancing, letting fresh air in and wearing a face covering, when viewing a property or undertaking the other necessary steps of a house move.
If you are having extension, renovation or new-build work carried out, then you are probably aware there is also good news.
Any building work you are in the middle of – or about to start – should be able to continue.
Construction workers are among those who have been told they are allowed to work away from the home.
Tradespeople can also continue to work in other people’s properties while adhering to Covid-secure guidelines.
At Howie Architects will continue to follow the government guidelines in terms of the work we carry out, conducting house surveys and site visits and meeting clients.
We are available for video meetings and calls and, in everything we do, our aim is to ensure business as usual as far as possible and to continue to operate with the utmost safety.
