Top of the Christmas location charts!
It’s the festive season and where would you most like to be living right now?
Well, Norfolk locations seem to regularly top the British charts when it comes to favourite places to live and shop at this time of year.
This year, London’s Metro publication listed Norwich as one of its top shopping destinations for anyone eager to escape the capital for a day or two.
It highlighted the city’s superb balance of high street and independent shops, as well, of course, as the charming Lanes, the colourful market and the many eateries.
Last year, Norwich was also named as one of this country’s 15 best high streets “where Christmas shopping is a pleasure” by the Telegraph.
The national paper cited many of the same reasons for heading to Norwich to pick up a few presents and also mentioned its unique Royal Arcade.
The city was also chosen by the Sunday Times last year as one of the best places to live in Britain.
The paper said it was the UK’s most complete medieval city yet also featured bold modern architecture.
It described Norwich as a “creative, artistic and literary powerhouse” with an ability to move with the times and a commitment to sustainability.
All the locations were visited by the judges who took factors such as schools, transport, broadband, culture, green spaces and high streets into account.
Earlier in 2023, Holt in North Norfolk topped a poll conducted by retailer Furniturebox to identify the most desirable places to live in Britain.
It was named the country’s most stylish location for the beauty of its buildings, its surrounding scenery and its popularity with artists.
And this festive season, the Georgian market town has been awarded a Christmas crown and listed as one of the country’s prettiest places to shop.
The Times highlighted it for its superb range of shops and stunning festive lights display.
